Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing national and local issues between March 30 and March 31, 2026.
On March 30, Magaziner criticized House Speaker Johnson’s decision to recess amid ongoing national challenges. He wrote, “Trump started a war, gas prices are soaring, TSA agents need backpay, and ICE needs to be reformed. Speaker Johnson’s response? Closing the House for a two week vacation. Unacceptable. Call us back into session now!”
The following day, Magaziner highlighted the launch of the annual nonprofit fundraising event in Rhode Island: “Today starts 401Gives, a time when Rhode Islanders support nonprofit organizations across the state. Last year, RI made history by raising over $4.9 MILLION. And I look forward to seeing what we accomplish together this year. Visit https://t.co/PVYwJimsNU to participate.” The event aims to mobilize residents in support of nonprofits statewide.
Later that same day, Magaziner marked Transgender Day of Visibility with a message recognizing transgender Americans: “Happy Transgender Day of Visibility! Today and every day, my colleagues in the @EqualityCaucus and I honor the resilience and dignity of transgender Americans.”
Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, he holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
