U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, has used his social media platform to highlight recent legislative initiatives and question the testimony of a federal official regarding the deportation of U.S. citizen children.
On July 28, 2025, Magaziner posted: “Not every job requires a four-year degree, but all good jobs require training. That is why I am co-sponsoring the Supporting Apprenticeship Colleges Act to provide critical funding for apprenticeship colleges that train and place workers in high-demand fields in Rhode Island.”
Later that same day, he commented on a congressional hearing involving Sirine Shebaya of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild (NIPNLG), stating: “Last week at our hearing, we heard from @NIPNLG’s Sirine Shebaya, who represents a 4-year-old U.S. citizen with cancer. A child that was deported without their parents’ consent. And Secretary Noem appears to have lied under oath about it.”
The following day, Magaziner continued his criticism by writing: “Kristi Noem swore to Congress she had proof that a mother agreed to deport her two U.S. citizen children to Honduras, including one with cancer. Last week, that mother’s lawyer came to the Capitol and said: that never happened. So show us the documents, Secretary Noem.”
Magaziner began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
