Congressman Seth Magaziner, representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, has voiced his concerns on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner graduated from Brown University and Yale University. His recent statements reflect his stance on food aid cuts, asylum seekers’ detention, and appointments within the Department of Homeland Security.
On June 10, 2025, Congressman Magaziner expressed disapproval regarding proposed budget cuts by Republicans that would affect food aid for malnourished children. He stated: “The proposed Republican cuts to lifesaving food aid for malnourished children in the FY26 budget is completely unacceptable.” He emphasized the importance of fully funding the bipartisan Food for Peace program to support organizations like Edesia Nutrition.
In another tweet posted later that day, Magaziner addressed the detention of Andry Hernandez Romero. He wrote: “Andry Hernandez Romero presented himself legally at a port of entry with a credible asylum case and no criminal record.” The congressman questioned the justification for Romero’s detention in El Salvador.
Furthermore, Congressman Magaziner criticized a recent appointment made by former President Trump. On June 10th he tweeted: “Trump just appointed a 22-year-old MAGA campaign worker with ZERO experience in charge of the DHS office tasked with stopping domestic terrorism.” Highlighting the rise in domestic terrorism, he stressed the need for experienced individuals to handle such serious matters.
Seth Magaziner continues to actively engage with national issues as part of his congressional duties.
